That includes Ministry of National Defense solicitations, government-backed production programs, allied purchases of Taiwanese systems, and the budget debates that determine whether announced programs are actually funded.
For suppliers, these are the signals that indicate where orders will originate over the next several quarters. For buyers, they show which Taiwanese manufacturers have already cleared a demanding customer's evaluation. We report awards and solicitations as they are published, with attention to what was committed rather than what was announced, since the two frequently diverge.

Taiwan exported $36.4 million of drones in August 2026. The Czech Republic took $24.9 million as the Ukraine corridor recovered to its first-quarter level, and the US bought a record $6.4 million in the three weeks between the Section 232 proclamation and its September 3 effective date. Year-to-date exports are $277.8 million, three times all of 2025.

Taoyuan prosecutors raided Unimicron, a board supplier to Nvidia and Intel, on suspicion that PCBs made at its China plants were shipped to Taiwan and relabeled. Unlike the Hang Jian case, the company has real production lines in Taiwan. The allegation is about which lines a given lot came from, and no factory visit settles that. The fifth Asia Innovation Drone Day drew 60-plus companies and delegations from 36 countries to Chiayi's Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center, but the headline ask was procedural: pass the NT$44.2 billion, six-year Unmanned Vehicle Industry Development Coordination Plan the KMT froze in July. The more urgent message for suppliers in the room came from ITRI instead — AUVSI Green/Blue UAS certification is the actual threshold for selling into US and European buyers, and it doesn't wait on Taipei.

Taiwan's Ministry of Finance has published July's preliminary customs figures and the headline reads like a reversal: US$29.2 million of unmanned aircraft exported, down 50.6% from June's all-time record of $59.1 million. But it is not a reversal. June's record was one order from Saudi Arabia sitting on top of a weak underlying month. Take that order out and July's exports were up 145% over June, the strongest month for Taiwan's core export business since April, and the third consecutive month of recovery in the Ukraine corridor. But the routing inside that corridor has changed, and the value-per-kilogram data suggests it might not be a simple re-route.
